Saturday-Sunday and most Federal Holidays: CLOSED

We are happy to share that following the devastating fire which destroyed our original clinic building on July 7^th, 2026, we are once again open and seeing patients at our new building!

We are still right here on the same property, using the same driveway and parking lot as our previous clinic at 1082 Main Street, so the location will be familiar to most of you. Simply drive in and park as usual. Our new clinic is in the other building on the property, which was not affected by the fire — on the far side of the parking lot.

We are currently using only a portion of the building while construction continues on the rest of it, but this will be the home of our full-service veterinary clinic once renovations are complete.

We are also excited to share that we are once again accepting new clients and patients! We look forward to continuing to provide care for the pets and people of our incredibly supportive community — both new and long-standing.

What to Expect When You Arrive

While construction is underway, our space and resources are limited. We are still able to provide many important services, including wellness care, vaccinations, minor sick visits, diagnostics and bloodwork, preventive care, and select surgical procedures. If you are unsure whether we can accommodate your pet's needs, please give us a call — we are happy to help.

We do not currently have a waiting room. When you arrive:

Please leave your pet(s) in your vehicle
Enter through the glass doors on the right side of the building
Let the receptionist know you have arrived
A team member will escort you and your pet(s) into the next available exam room

Prescriptions & Medication Refills

We are continuing to rebuild our pharmacy inventory and have a growing selection of medications and products available. If we do not currently have what you need in stock, we may be able to special-order it for you. We can also approve prescriptions through our online pharmacy: vetcaremaine.covetruspharmacy.com Just give us a call to let us know what you need, and we will do our best to help!

Please excuse the construction, noise, mess, and smaller spaces as we continue rebuilding. While our new clinic is not yet completed, every day brings us one step closer to the veterinary practice we envision for our patients, clients, and team.

Unbelievably good dental work for our rescue dog! I am shocked to see completely white, tartarless teeth and the absence of terrible breath after this cleaning and one extraction. I have absolutely loved my experiences with these folks and Dr. Shawn. They are kind and understanding. They had to deal with my big pain in the butt and he did great for his neutering and vaccines..... I love that they have a site where you can order your flea and tick and tick as well as heartworm meds, and not have to drive all the way in, (which is an hour for me) and they sell lupine collars and leashes, and it's a very comfortable atmosphere.... they have beautiful portraits of their pets and clients, and occasionally, you even get to meet those in the portraits!!

Carrabassett is the absolute best vet in the area and I couldn’t imagine managing our dogs’ health without them. We have 9 small dogs — something extremely uncommon in the mountains of Maine (and really anywhere nearby) and several of them have chronic illnesses (seizures, dementia, Cushings). Dr. Benson and Dr. Shawn are the absolute best at what they do (Dr. Tulli too!!!). They handle our dogs with care, with love and with concern *always* and we’ve been with them for over a decade. Just this past week, they helped our eldest cross the rainbow bridge and the entire staff cared for her like she was their own. We love them. We love their dedication. We love their expertise. We love how hard they work to keep our babies happy. ♥️

They where amazing when our 15yr old bull boxer had an abdominal bleed, they were very professional, honest and caring. Dr. Benson was blunt about her possible outcome and understood that where not rich but wanted the best for her we could afford. His care plan for us saved her life.
